Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium

March 4, 2014

Dear Colleagues,

Though much of the media attention paid to our move to the Big Ten has focused on what it will mean for Rutgers athletics, our membership in the Big Ten and its academic counterpart, the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), will provide tremendous opportunities for our research and academic programs at Rutgers. The Big Ten and CIC offer possibilities for our students, faculty, and staff to collaborate with colleagues at these other outstanding universities, further expanding Rutgers’ reach.

I wanted to share one example of an academic network that is already being formed with our partners in the Big Ten: The Cancer Research Consortium. As you’ll see in the short video below, this consortium of world-class academic institutions will enable a collaborative approach to improving our understanding of cancer in the lab and our treatment of cancer in our hospitals.

I hope you’ll share my excitement in the potential of these kinds of transformative academic networks.

Sincerely,

Bob Barchi
